Author Thoughts
Venturi comes into the series in the first book of the Prophecy trilogy, but it isn't until Prophecy: Caelestis & Aurorea that we get to know him and he becomes an integral character. A member of the Tenebrae bloodline, Venturi can sometimes have a quick temper and the kind of attitude that could make people hate him, but on the flipside to that coin, he's compassionate, dedicated and hides a more sensitive side. It's this dual personality that Prophecy has to learn to deal with. He was originally meant to be a thorn in Prophecy's side, someone to confuse her feelings for Valentine, but as I began writing him, I found myself wanting something more for him. It's sometimes painful and sad to see his growing feelings for Prophecy, watching him standing on the outside waiting for the day she'll let him in, and fearing that she never will. The tension and angst between them at times is palpable, and it was hard not to give in and let them love each other openly. He's such a strong character, powerful and a leader, that it was interesting to write his other side-the side that Prophecy sees-and the way she brings him to his knees with just a look or a light touch. Love him or hate him, he's one interesting character.
