Author Thoughts
At the beginning of the Prophecy Trilogy, Arkalus is enjoying the position of Chosen Son, but deep inside he craves more. He wants the hand of his blood sister, Prophecy, the Chosen Daughter of the Caelestis bloodline. She's refused him more times than he can count and the leader of their house, Lady Iona, has told him that while she lives, he won't be allowed to claim Prophecy against her will. The line has been drawn and it's not long before Iona falls to Arkalus' hand and he puts in motion a plan to make Prophecy his, by siding with Kalinor against her. All Arkalus cares about is winning Prophecy, no matter what the cost is or whether she would love him back. He's crazy about her, crazy enough to risk his life by forming an alliance with his sworn enemy's lord. Arkalus is blinded by love and thinks nothing of danger if it will get him what he wants. He comes close, but never succeeds. A strong character, almost corrupted by the lust for power and his desire for one woman he can't have, he becomes the instrument of his own downfall. There was no remorse in me when it came time to end his part in the Prophecy Trilogy. He was a wonderful bad guy, but the heroine just had to win and put her past to rest.
