Author Thoughts - Book - Prophecy: Caelestis & Aurorea
The second book in the Prophecy Trilogy sees everything really kicking off. It was heart-wrenching to take Prophecy away from her love, Valentine, but it was essential to the plot and it helped her character develop into a strong woman that realises she can handle herself and her power. She's so determined in this story to rescue her love, even though most have turned their backs on her, that you really see her character begin to evolve and take off. She's grown up a lot and it's Valentine's disappearance that allows this transformation to take place. She's got a lot to deal with too. The only one willing to help her is Venturi, the new lord of Tenebrae thanks to her killing his sire. The trouble with Venturi is that he's interested in more than just helping her. He's a potential spanner in the romantic works between her and Valentine, and he doesn't believe in hiding his interest in her. This part of the story really sees the characters growing. There's some bad times in here, with Valentine's captivity and someone dying, but everything serves to strengthen the bonds between Valentine and Prophecy. They're really up against it now and desperate to discover who the person in the black robe is. It's a gripping part of the story, and I think it leads the reader quite smoothly from the first part to the last part, and marks a very noticeable change in our heroine, Prophecy. » read more about this story
Author Thoughts - Character - Kalinor
The lord of Aurorea, Kalinor isn't known for his patience or his kindness. He's raised the name of Aurorea to the highest echelon amongst vampires by strengthening his bloodline via training, war and the teaching of their history. A man with a reputation for action and a penchant for torture, he's not the kind of vampire you'd want to get on the wrong side of. He's strong, deadly and unforgiving of those who go against him. The darkness inside this character was great to explore, especially in the second book where he really comes into his element and shows his true colours. He's not the kind of man you'd betray or speak out against, as that would probably end in your death, after a long and very slow bout of torture of course. » read more about this character
Author Thoughts - Character - Arkalus
At the beginning of the Prophecy Trilogy, Arkalus is enjoying the position of Chosen Son, but deep inside he craves more. He wants the hand of his blood sister, Prophecy, the Chosen Daughter of the Caelestis bloodline. She's refused him more times than he can count and the leader of their house, Lady Iona, has told him that while she lives, he won't be allowed to claim Prophecy against her will. The line has been drawn and it's not long before Iona falls to Arkalus' hand and he puts in motion a plan to make Prophecy his, by siding with Kalinor against her. All Arkalus cares about is winning Prophecy, no matter what the cost is or whether she would love him back. He's crazy about her, crazy enough to risk his life by forming an alliance with his sworn enemy's lord. Arkalus is blinded by love and thinks nothing of danger if it will get him what he wants. He comes close, but never succeeds. A strong character, almost corrupted by the lust for power and his desire for one woman he can't have, he becomes the instrument of his own downfall. There was no remorse in me when it came time to end his part in the Prophecy Trilogy. He was a wonderful bad guy, but the heroine just had to win and put her past to rest. » read more about this character
