TRS: Felicity, welcome to The Romance Studio. Please tell us about your featured work, Prophecy: Child of Light.
FH: Prophecy: Child of Light is a vampire romance of epic, dark proportions. It’s the first of the Vampires Realm novels and really introduces the world well, giving readers information about the bloodlines, under-demons, history and the social structure of it all. It’s the story of Prophecy, a girl of the Caelestis bloodline who has spent her whole life believing a web of lies, none the wiser to them. When she breaks the rules and sneaks out to hunt and taste her first kill, she meets a member of her family’s opposing house, the Aurorea. This man, Valentine, throws her whole life into disarray by revealing her existence to his lord. She’s suddenly at the centre of a prophecy she never knew existed, and people who had once been her friends become her enemies, and some she thought would be an enemy become her friends. She is hunted by the Law Keepers, her family, and the Aurorea. The only man who can protect her is Valentine, the one who discovered her and the one who should have executed her but found that he couldn’t. He kidnaps her and helps her discover just who she is, the power she has, and what love is like. She grows throughout the story, coming into her own as she sheds the naivety and learns the ways of the world while struggling to keep one step ahead of those after her. It’s ultimately a complex epic vampire novel with a love story more compelling than Romeo & Juliet.
