Author Thoughts - Book - Prophecy: Child of Light

This first part of the Prophecy trilogy really sets the scene for the whole story. Introducing the hero, Valentine, and the heroine, Prophecy, it starts the story off with a bang. It was great to write a story where I was so involved with the characters, and where it wasn't just one of them growing and evolving. Setting them off on their respective paths and watching them cope with everything I threw at them made it such an interesting story to write. I got to watch them struggle and grow, not just Prophecy, but Valentine too. There is an air of Romeo & Juliet about the story, but it's a much darker tale than that one, if that's possible. The opposing bloodlines is just a tiny fraction of the overall story, but it does provide some wonderful tension between Valentine and Prophecy. I've never written so much tension in a story before, and it was bordering on cruel at some points, but it was necessary. There's nothing worse than having two opposing people suddenly falling into bed with each other. I think readers will really fall for this story, being able to picture the cities and the characters, and watching the ways Prophecy and Valentine grow and fall in love against their better judgement, and the way they deal with the destiny that fate has given them. » read more about this story

Author Thoughts - Character - Venturi Tenebrae

Venturi comes into the series in the first book of the Prophecy trilogy, but it isn't until Prophecy: Caelestis & Aurorea that we get to know him and he becomes an integral character. A member of the Tenebrae bloodline, Venturi can sometimes have a quick temper and the kind of attitude that could make people hate him, but on the flipside to that coin, he's compassionate, dedicated and hides a more sensitive side. It's this dual personality that Prophecy has to learn to deal with. He was originally meant to be a thorn in Prophecy's side, someone to confuse her feelings for Valentine, but as I began writing him, I found myself wanting something more for him. It's sometimes painful and sad to see his growing feelings for Prophecy, watching him standing on the outside waiting for the day she'll let him in, and fearing that she never will. The tension and angst between them at times is palpable, and it was hard not to give in and let them love each other openly. He's such a strong character, powerful and a leader, that it was interesting to write his other side-the side that Prophecy sees-and the way she brings him to his knees with just a look or a light touch. Love him or hate him, he's one interesting character. » read more about this character
