The Author
I've been interested in all things preternatural since I was just a kid. I used to while away days at school and college dreaming of vampires, werewolves and witches, and used to while away evenings watching movies about them or reading gothic horror stories (or drawing...it's the other obsession of mine).
So, it wasn't really a surprise when, back in 2003, I found myself turning my hand to writing paranormal romance. In 2005 I had my first novel e-published under the name Felicity Heaton, and wrote several romantic suspense stories and historical romances, which held my attention for a while and got me some great five star reviews, but then an idea for a story struck me, and because I didn't have time to write it there and then, it grew, mutated, and took on a life of its own, taking over a whole world while it was at it.
Thus, Vampires Realm was born. It was at some point during thinking about Prophecy that it happened. The story had percolated at the back of my mind for months, and when I went back to it, I found I'd written down a stack of notes about a world that was too all encompassing for just one story. I looked at this world, at the laws and the bloodlines, and the history, even at the massive cast of characters in Prophecy, and realised that I had a series on my hands.
Within a few short weeks, this single idea had spawned nine new ideas, all of which I couldn't ignore any longer, so I sat down and planned Prophecy. It was so complex and intense, with twists and turns that will keep everyone on their toes, and character relationships that could melt the hardest heart, that it ended up being too long for one book, or even two. At three books long, Prophecy is bound to be the longest story in Vampires Realm. I can say that with confidence now, but I'm sure that at some point another wave of ideas will wash over me and I'll have another story of similar length, if not longer, on my hands. I won't complain because it's exactly the kind of story I prefer to write.
I love to write vampires, werewolves and witches. I make no excuses for how brutal they can be. This is their world after all and, most of the time, we're just their next meal. I wanted vampires and werewolves that hark back to the days before people had to humanise them. They're merciless hunters-seductive, sexy and strong. They're vicious, dark and dangerous, but, at the same time, they love, they laugh and they feel every emotion as strongly as you or I. This is their world. In it, they do as they please, when they want and to who they want. Me, I'm just honoured to write down their adventures.
All of the stories in Vampires Realm are self published. I've had novels published at e-publishers, as well as self-publishing my work, but with this series I wanted to prove a point that a novel can be self-published and just as good, if not better, than a published story.
I'm always open to comments about my stories and characters, and always more than happy to answer any questions you might have. You can use the contact form to drop me a line or email me directly, and I'll be sure to respond when the muse gives me five minutes away from writing.
